Jeff has nearly 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  His “large pharma” experience (24 years) included Burroughs Wellcome, Glaxo Wellcome and Glaxo SmithKline.  He rose through the ranks, initially developing and applying bioanalytical methods, assuming additional responsibilities for the regulatory compliance of the validation and application of group’s procedures.  In his final position at GSK he managed a laboratory that developed, validated and applied cellular, molecular and biochemical surrogate markers for clinical studies.  In 2002 Jeff began consulting part-time, while working at Trimeris, a biotech company, as the Manager of Bioanalytical Chemistry.  During his career, Jeff has managed bioanalytical lab groups responsible for all phases of drug discovery and development.   This included PK, PD, immunogenicity testing, and support for surrogate maker discovery. In December 2006, Jeff moved on to consulting full-time and incorporated Sailstad and Associates in April of 2007.  Jeff has a passion for the promoted the use of consensus-based decision-making and good science (bioanalytical and statistics) for establishing harmonized procedures for the validation and application of bioanalytical methods.  This was apparent as Jeff was a co-chair for the AAPS workshop on Bioanalytical Method Validation commonly referred to as Crystal City III.  Jeff loves to teach and is highly sought out as a speaker for workshops and short courses.

Jeff is typically requested to consult on bioanalytical issues that are raised by regulatory agencies, but many clients quickly realize due to his extensive experience that spans discovery to late phase clinical trails, he can add-value on most development programs. He likes to say “it’s the solving of specific problems that is my introduction; it’s the prevention of future problems that keeps me employed.”

In 2007 Jeff began collaborating with the staff at B2S Consulting for supporting bioanalytical projects for some Pharma/Biotech clients, particularly in the area of immunogenicity testing.  This relationship allows him to take advantage of the collective expertise at B2S in bioanalytical science, drug development and statistics and apply a ‘Team Approach’ for supporting clients’ projects.
