Dr. David R. Taft is the Director of the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences and a tenured Associate Professor at the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, of Long Island University. Dr. Taft holds an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy with highest distinction from the University of Rhode Island. He received a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Taft joined the faculty at Long Island University after completing a post-doctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics at the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy.
A number of pharmaceutical companies have consulted with Dr. Taft regarding pharmacokinetic evaluation of novel therapeutic entities. Dr. Taft presently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for four peer-reviewed journals, has published more than 40 manuscripts and research abstracts, and has co-edited two books in the areas of preclinical drug development and formulation strategies to optimize therapeutic outcomes. He is a past recipient of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists New Investigator Award in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism and a Fellow of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education.
